Cooperation with Massive92
As you already know, as Pan Winyl and POLVINYL, we have the pleasure and immense privilege of being representatives of the German label Massive92. Among others, DEAD STAR TALK and Klemens Hannigan are part of their label.
Massive92 entrusted us with the distribution of Klemens' records, and as it turns out, you really like them. Klemens has found his people in our beautiful community. However, the label went a step further. With the band DEAD STAR TALK, they commissioned us to press the "Solid State Chemicals" album, the second album of this excellent German-Danish band.
Producer of Metallica and fans of Oasis
As you probably already know from previous articles, the second album by DEAD STAR TALK was recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen. The studio belongs to the famous and very distinguished thrash metal producer Flemming Rasmussen.
Flemming Rasmussen changed the sound of metal by producing three Metallica albums: "Ride The Lightning", "Master Of Puppets" and "...And Justice For All". Considering that the gentlemen of DEAD STAR TALK grew up with the music of Oasis, this is quite a combination. Anyway, check out the first single from the Solid State Chemicals album called "Twenty" (also available on NFT).
Serendipity seems to work
From a private conversation with Christian Bühl I learned that their first entry into Flemming's studio was quite spontaneous and coincidental, and that what was supposed to be a short session for an EP turned into a friendship with the famous producer. And also the recording of a second album. The first album 'Too Many Too Much' was also produced by Fleming. The band DEAD STAR TALK gained a great mentor and the second album is already different. Rasmussen not only mastered the album, but was also responsible for the recording and mixing! So we can expect a great job. If we add to this the artful punching and pressing that POLVINYL guarantees, we have yet another publishing gem.
The cover
The cover was printed by MGT, with whom we have a long-standing relationship, and as always we get first-class quality in both execution and materials. The graphic design was done by the band and Angelika Bujak was again responsible for the artwork. Angelika previously did the artwork for Dagadan's 'Meridian 68'.
Test Presses
I'm passing on a short update from Christian of DEAD STAR TALK, who informs us that he has received a test pressing of their latest release 'Solid State Chemicals'. Christian will be visiting Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark (16/02) to listen to the album with Flemming Rasmussen and benefit from his experience before approving the final pressing.
Although I would have loved to attend this listening session, it will not be possible for me. Fortunately DEAD STAR TALK will take care of this and the whole event will be documented. This will give us the opportunity to see the legendary producer listening to a test pressing prepared by POLVINYL for the first time.
In the Copenhagen studio, the band and Flemming Rasmussen will sign all the test pressings and three of them will be up for grabs in the DEAD STAR TALK x Massive92 x POLVINYL x Mr Vinyl competition. Conditions of entry below!
The video will only be available to those who have purchased the vinyl pre-order version of the album or the limited edition NFT "Solid State Chemicals"!
